As the decrease of traditional unrenewable energy source, energy problem is becoming prominent and new energy sources are drawing more attentions and develop quickly. Wind power generating develops quickly these years globally and is commercialized broadly. As the one of the main direction of Variable Speed Constant Frequency(VSCF) wind power generation technology, direct-drive wind power generating technology is characterized with particular advantages and has caught attention at home and abroad. The disc-type permanent-magnet synchronous generator, with compact structure, good ventilation, large moment of inertia and high efficiency, has gained renewed attention in the direct-drive VSCF wind turbine applications in recent years for its features and favorable reliability. In this paper, based on the traditional wind power generation technology, the direct-drive wind power generating technology is mainly researched. A comprehensive research on the disc-type permanent-magnet synchronous generator used in the direct-drive variable-speed constant-frequency wind power generation is performed. With the study of status quo of wind power generation at home abroad, the wind power generating technology is introduced roughly and the develop history and research level of disc-type PM machine are then presented. Then according to the characters of disc-type machine, the categories of it are introduced. Then principle and basal electrical magnetic features of it are given. Operating characters are analyzed at last. Combined with the traditional machine design technology, a double-rotor disc-type PM machine was elementarily designed and some problems in the design process were explored. Based on the work above, and with the electromagnetic finite element analyzing software Maxwell 3D, the generator's static electromagnetic field and non-load electromagnetic field were analyzed. At last, the influences of pole arc coefficient, thicknesses of poles and stator core on the magnetic field and structure of the machine.
