Abstract/Summary:
Cement-soil mixing pile was originally a method to strengthen the foundation, with the aim of increasing the bearing capacity and decreasing the settlement. Because it's fast and economic and no-polluted, and due to its property of stability and anti-seepage, it has been used extensively in many fields in recent times. Now, it has been widely used in dikes. An earth dam has the same figure type as a dike, the same materials and the same principles and methods in the term of seepage analysis. Therefore, it is only and proper to consider transplant the application of cement-soil mixing in a dike to a earth dam, to form some kind of impervious curtain, in order to reduce the seepage volume, and bring down the water gradient on the downstream exit. There have been many projects like this. However, the norms are semiempirical, which means they are not accurate enough and need some further studies. This paper basing on many relative projects and studies, analyzes and interprets the applying fields and strengthen mechanism and applying conditions, and according to a lot of experiments, draw a conclusion about the relation between the permeability and the Cement Incorporating Ratio. Then, with the use of finite element software ANSYS, self-made a seepage computing program to stimulate before and after setting up the impervious curtain, which is made of Cement-soil mixing pile. Using the self-made program, we are able to have the figures of water head and pressure head distribution and the water gradient on the downstream exit. Comparing the forward results with the afterward results, we can see the performance of the Cement-soil mixing pile as a impervious curtain. During this process, we also made some suggestions on the optimization of the structure form and Cement Incorporating Ratio, which is the core content of this paper. At last, some re-considering work is done as well as some improvements advice is brought forward. The author has high expectation on the use of cement-soil mixing pile in the earth dam, hope construction field could pay more attention on it, too.
