The Typology And Morphology Research On The Designing Of The Space And Pattern Of The New Settlements In The Historical City Suzhou

Space and form of settlements are important parts of texture and structure of the historical city Su Zhou . Two thousand years of historical and cultural heritage makes the texture and structure solid. Under the new background, people's material and spiritual demands changed, there are more and more problems appeared in the previous form, but our measures could not achieve the prospective effect, even brought damages to the historical city. So we have to find a new mode, to meet the shortfall of our design and construction.In the research, we use typology and urban morphology as the support theories. Through the integrated use of both theories to analyze the status and find the problems, then find out the way of resolving the problems, suggest the new model . Sum up a set of practical design principles and design strategies.The article first analyses the research background, then selects the support theories and summarizes the theories and practices. Analysis the development trend through the construction course of settlements, using the typology and urban morphology theory to prototype extraction and categorize the main space elements of settlements. At the same time the article uses comparative methodology to get the advantages and disadvantages of existing models. Further, makes the core content of this research, the design strategies of the settlements in the historical city Su Zhou.
