With the higher speed of information, the wave of"information revolution"was set off in the field of education, and campus network center gradually became the center of research & teaching and electronic data storaging, so it is particularly important to ensuer the security of the data. When stability of the electric power system could not be controlled, how to operate the network storage devices and servers safely and stably was increasingly prominent. One of the most effective way to solve the problems of instability in power and power quality was using uninterruptible power systems (UPS) as a standby power system, and large-capacity UPS system in the computer room was given a more high-performance requirements. It was hard to account and dope out the health and charge status of the batteries, and this technology was in researching and development so far. In this paper, valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) battery, which took a major role in the UPS system, was taken as the subject investigated, the following three aspects of the research was carried out.First, infection of battery internal resistance on the potential fall was analysed, and on base of it, mathematic model of relationship between battery internal resistance and terminal voltage was set up, discharge curve with different battery internal resistance was drawn. And significance of the model was demonstrated by the experiment.Second, a new way to measure the extent of cell passivation using internal resistance value, that was a method of MIN/ MAX and VRLA internal resistance detection, was propounded. It was shown in experiments that the health status of the battery could be accurately determined by this method.Third, fitting curve of battery internal resistance under different temperature was gotten through experments, and according to the operational state of VRLA batteris in the hold UPS system, emulation of voltage, current and internal resistance were used to determine the infection to various factors by temperature. The discharge process model of VRLA batteris was set up on the energy conservation law. A simulation of VRLA batteris was made on base of it. And, comparing with the previous battery charge status model, the new model could reflect the released energy of the current battery power status under the conditions of the actual discharge exactly. That meet the actual needs of determining the battery status to the battery management system.
