Tape transfer machine with a large transport quantity, a long distance, high efficiency, has become of equipment in coal mine, port and other industry. Aim at existing faults of the traditional long distance transmission. Many manufacturers to design a variety of protection switch, in order to achieve protection for these failures. The protection switches and control systems can be achieved fault alarm, fault shutdown and other protective measures to ensure the safe of tape transfer systems. However, when the tape transfer machine is for a long distance, such as tape transfer machine of Shanxi 81 is 18 kilometers, finding fault location is more difficult. Currently there are some fault location system based on RS485, but the reliability of the system is not high, inconvenienced to managers. The more advanced systems abroad, the price is very high. The paper studies the fault location system of long distance tape transfer machine, CAN bus is applied to the system, it not only improved the reliability of the system, and strong practicability. The biggest advantage is the use of CAN bus technology, non-destructive arbitration priority major failure to achieve a high level of intelligence.The system contains CAN bus encoder system and communication terminal system. The special requirements for the two systems, the following more in depth is research. Design the CAN bus address encoder, communication terminal digital display circuit, control relay circuit, LNK501 switching power supply chip circuitry. CAN bus encoder system and communication terminal system by CAN bus.Good real-time CAN bus is used for supervisory system of the tape transfer machine, sending address to the sub-station and receive message. Any of a protection switch moves, the information will be recorded in the communication terminal. Communication terminal with built-in relay control system to stop running, the information can also be sent to host computer centralized control. Host use Visual Basic developing tool characteristics and data accessing technology to achieve human-computer interaction, data collection, fault identification, data display, data output and fault alarm functions, and complete data storage protection at the same time and make all kinds of control commands. The remote monitoring and management system based on the CAN bus can accurate data acquisition, communication real time and credible, full featured supervisory system and so on. After the actual debugging and trial in the experiment, the system reached the design standard requirements.
