Transportation is the lifeblood of urban development, it seriously influences on the development of urban economy, society and our daily life. Therefore, to strengthen the study of urban transportation planning and establish smooth traffic environment is necessary and very important.At present, the transportation planning systems mostly focus on buliding mathematical models and models solution in transportation demand forecast. Although they no longer simply rely on expert experience for qualitative analysis, the analysis results are too professional and not intuitive. Therefore, based on GIS strong data management, powerful spatial analyses and intuitive thememap expression, this paper vectorizes the urban road skeleton by improved intersection contour tracking technology based on Freeman encoding, develops the urban transportation demand forecasting compentents, and designs the urban planning decision support system for transportation planning.This paper focuses on the research and application of GIS and vectorization technology in urban transportation planning. The main work and innovations of the thesis are as follows:Based on ComGIS technology, this paper designs the transportation spatial analysis component, achieves the spatial query and measurement, buffer analysis and overlay analysis function. Besides, it improves the network path analysis function so that it can analyze with any two points instead of the network nodes, and supports network obstacles in network analysis to make it more close to real transportation environment.As the raster image is lack of spatial topological relations, it has difficulty with attribute editting and spatial vector analysis. In this paper, the road vector is obtained with improved intersection point contour tracking method based on Freeman encoding. And based on the road network, this paper designs the transportation demand forecasting with GISDK macro programming language, and develops the thematic analysis with the transportation forecast data for urban transport planning and decision support.Based on ComGIS technology and improved vectorization method, this paper develops the decision support system for urban transportation planning. It can do spatial query and analysis, geometric measurement, urban transportation demand forecast and 3D visual display; therefore assist urban transportation planning and decision support with thematic map analysis.
