Research Of Marine Main Generator Virtual Reality System

Marine diesel generator is the most commonly power form for merchant, and it is also a key device in the ship electric power system. It is said that to protect the generator from being damaged is to ensure safety of navigation. So the generator training which is one part of crew training system has been valued by many training institutions, and ship power plant is also regarded as a important part during the marine simulator development. But because the complicated structure and advanced technology of the generator, the training of management of it should still be further improved.Its aims to use advanced virtual reality technology to develop a virtual reality system of Marine Generator, and then integrate the virtual reality system and generator simulator which is a subsystem of DMS2008-type marine simulator, it is developed by Dalian Maritime University and technological mature. Finally, develop a training system to facilitate generator research and high-quality crew training, which contains auxiliary generator room environment cognition, generator structure cognition, generator local control and marine simulator operation.Taking the generator of Yu Kun as study object, through studying its structure and operating principle deeply, collecting its working parameters, structural parameters and appearance parameters, establish its realistic three-dimensional model and improve its mathematical model on the basis of the previous model. Then develop Virtual Walkthrough System by EON Studio what is a virtual reality platform, in which user can interact with the generator immediately. Finally, merge virtual reality system and marine simulator system together, make them interactively and synchronously by ActiveX controls and EON secondary development technology.The research results show that applying virtual reality technology in generator system can provide accurate and vivid tool for generator research and crew training. Virtual reality technology will rapidly be extended in the application of vessels research.
