For manufacturing, every enterprise is faced with continuous variable and uncertain global market competition, the core of the competition is based on the knowledge of the new product. Virtual reality technology is rapid development under the background of above conditions and has been widely used in the mechanical design, assembly, prototype manufacturing and other fields. In the process of product development design, assembly design is an important link, also is the last part for product’s overall performance. Virtual assembly is developed on the basis of virtual reality, is widely used in scientific research, education, training, military industry andIn this paper, with the help of virtual laboratory mechanical science research institute in Gan Su province, the study has five research contents hereinafter:(1) To study the hardware structure of the virtual laboratory, carry on the thorough research on architecture of virtual laboratory research, and more in-depth research on the way of modeling, model information extraction.(2)Establish the virtual hand and realize the human-computer interaction. Analyzed the static modeling and dynamic control and human-computer interaction of virtual hand. Respectively using MultiGen Creator and3DS Max mesh modeling method to establish the model of virtual hand used in the interaction process, analyze the connection method of data glove, establish the mapping relationship between virtual hand and data glove, and realize human-computer interaction connection.(3) Particular analysis and research the Collision detection method, combine with the Collision of EON develop a suitable way of collision detection. Analyzed several common methods of collision detection, such as the scope of application, combine with EON and Collision Object detection node, develop the nodes and at the same time completed the Collision detection by setting grab rules, fetching, and mobile release synchronous operation.(4) By improved genetic algorithm is realized with the process of planning of reducer assembly sequence. Using the data which has been developed by data glove in vc++to receive module and combined with EON SDK to develop virtual hand control node to realize the real time operation of virtual hand. Combined with development of collision detection node in the EON and the calculated reducer assembly sequence, the proceed the manual assembly operations in the virtual reality environment. Finally, record the spatial information of various parts, realizes the man-machine interactive operation.(5)Combined with improved genetic algorithm to calculate the reducer assembly sequence. Through the use of the nodes in the EON to develop nodes. At last, achieved the automatic assembly in the virtual environment according to the calculated reducer assembly sequence.
