Rapid urbanization is a socio-economic development since China's reform and opening up an important symbol. The eastern coastal Shandong Province is China one of the earlier opening, with the booming regional economy, the level of urbanization in Shandong has also been greatly improved. Rapid progress of urbanization, to the towns and villages to bring unprecedented opportunities and challenges. At the same time, accompanied by increase in income, the quality of village residents living in increasingly high demand. However, due to long work for the town planning and design of neglect, or is "maintaining the status quo" method simplify processing of complex issues, and lack of specific planning and design techniques, resulting in "thousands of village the same side, construction of clone "phenomenon, caused by the existing town planning and design of technology lags far behind the development of the practice.In this paper, areas of rapid urbanization in Shandong town planning and design of this study, the background from the current situation in China, combining domestic and foreign-related theory and practice of town planning and design of our current problems and causes; of Shandong fast urbanized area regional characteristics of towns and villages; and Zibo City, Shandong Province Maqiao Central Area, for example, in-depth investigations based on the survey results through the analysis of monomers from the settlements planning and housing design level, of the region's current building problems and solutions. Through theoretical and empirical research methods combined, summed up the region's villages and towns to apply to the planning and design of technology, and put in Maqiao Central Area Planning and Design Ma life practice.
