The electric motor is one sort of the most important electric equipments in modern manufacturing. Its failure has serious impact on the manufacturing. The environmental and analyzing protection requires analyzing and researching the suppressive characteristic of the electric motor's vibration. Measuring and analyzing the vibration of electric motor provides a way to detect motor's fault. It is vital of importance to develop a measurement and analysis system.Virtual instrument technology is widely used in measurement due to its development in the last 20 years. Compared to traditional instrument, Virtual instrument has many advantages, such as better performance. LabVIEW is one of the best virtual instrument software platforms.This thesis implemented a measurement and analysis system for electric motor's vibration. The main content of the thesis includes the followings:1. The hardware of the measurement and analysis system is developed. Because of the variety ways of timing, the author built two ways of timing: frequency conversion timing and booster timing, which in order to compare the electric motor's vibration data.2. A LabVIEW based data acquisition system is developed. The function of this system covers the vibration signal's acquisition, display, and data management.3. A LabVIEW based data analysis system is developed. This system contains three kinds of analyze field: time field, frequency field, and time-frequency transform field. It is simple and convenient to operate and display clearly, besides, it has the function of storing data and graphs.4. The study of signal processing methods, such as windows function, filter, and their application in vibration signal processing are conducted. In addition, Correlation, power spectral, Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT) and their application in vibration signal analysis are discussed in detail.5. The methods of characteristic frequency extraction and analysis in electric motor's vibration are extensively studied in this thesis. Consequently, the failure type of electric motor is educed. Besides, the advantages and disadvantages of the two kinds of timing methods are compared. It proved that it is an effective measurement and analysis system of electric motor.
