The motor vibration is a normal physical phenomenon which presences in motor. But inthe vibration phenomena, it contains a lot of important information. Studies show that if themotor fails in running, it will be reflected in the vibration spectrum. So researches on thecharacteristics of the motor vibration are of great significance for the timely detection ofmotor failure. Especially in recent years, the virtual instrument technology with the progressof engineering test has achieved fruitful development. Therefore, the use of the virtualinstrument technology, makes the combined of motor vibration analysis and fault monitoringsystem extremely simple, and it also has important application value.This paper systemic study on the type of motor vibration, the methods of vibrationsignal processing and motor fault diagnosis systems. According to the motor spectraldistribution characteristics, a method of the combine with virtual instrument and networktechnology is putting forward. This system uses NI acquisition card, speed sensor andvibration sensor to collect the motor vibration data and process the data with the Butterworthfilter, wavelet analysis, fast Fourier transform and power spectrum analysis. By comparingthe processed power spectrum with the spectral distribution of motor failure characteristicssumming from experiments, we will certain the type of failure of the motor. At the same time,it also achieves a display of the motor real-time speed, the fault tips, generating reports, Webpublishing program, remote program operation and audible alarm function. By means ofexperimental analysis proves the rationality and reliability of the system. The experimentshows that the fault detection system can timely confirm the type of motor failure and quicklydetermine the cause of the malfunction, that system can provide reliable foundation for theworkers to troubleshoot at first. It has corking theoretical and practical value.
