With the development of aerospace technology, study on large scale space deployable antenna has become one of research focuses at present. The basic request for these space antennas is large in scale, light in weight,high in ingathering rate and high in reliability.Study on such basic problems as creative desigh in the structure and validation of the structure reliability is very important.In this paper,the research object is the back frame of a new type of deployable antenna—hoop-rib deployable structure. The details of the joints of hoop-rib deployable structure are designed and studied. The model of hoop-rib deployable structure is produced to verify the property of the design. The gravity compensation device of hoop-rib deployable structure is designed. This paper is very useful in the further development of hoop-rib deployable antenna.The joints are the key to the hoop-rib deployable structure. In this paper, the design details of joints are researched respectively, including transmission mode, drive mode, positioning and locking mode. The joints use synchronous gear drive and torsion spring-driven form. Three types of torsion spring setting program are given out, compared and analyzed. Also it introduces the operation principle of positioning and locking scheme.In this paper, the loop- rib deployable structure model whose diameter is 3-meter is thoroughly designed, including loop-joints, rib joints, loop bar and rib bar, etc. Finally, the loop-rib deployable structural model could be launched to conduct an overall assembly. For the loop-rib deployable structural, gravity compensation device design scheme is proposed and a suitable program of this structure is chose with comparisons. At the same time, its hanger is designed and produced simply.At the end of this dissertation some conclusions were reached and the problems that should be studied further were put forward.
