Compared with traditional oil extraction systems, submersible linear motor pumping system has many advantages.As a new type of cylindrical linear AC motor, cylindrical linear permanent magnet motor is more suitable for submersible pumping system, compared to the original cylindrical linear induction motor. In this paper, in order to meet the needs of oil field pumping system more fittingly, a cylinder-shaped permanent magnet linear motor prototype made by our group is tested in more details. The actual project prototype and its control system are designed, based on the achievement of the small prototype.Finally, the structure of transverse flux machine (TFM) is described and the feasibility study of oil-driving is done.The main contents are as follows:Firstly, the purpose of the small-scale prototype is described. Based on the requirements of the structure and performance, prototype is designed and tested in no-load and load experiments, which lead to the results of no-load loss and the drive capability. Prototype tests show that cylinder-shaped permanent magnet linear synchronous motor has a rather high driving force.Secondly, based on the achievement of design of small-scale prototype, the transient electromagnetic field finite element method is adopted in the actual design of project prototype.Because of the limited computing resources, the whole motor is divided into the same 28 single motors. The result of the whole engineering design of prototype is derived according to the calculation of single motor. In the single motor analysis, the whole stroke is divided into the upstream pumping process, downstream with light-load and standstill process, and the no-load and load test are done respectively to upstream pumping process and downstream pumping process, results of which show that the prototype meets the performance requirements.Thirdly, the control system of the submersible cylindrical permanent magnet linear synchronous motor is designed, including hardware circuit design and software programming.Hardware part of the control system is divided into the following sections:the single chip microcomputer and its peripheral circuit, inverter and drive unit, voltage detection, current detection, temperature detection unit and the protection circuit. Software components include single chip microcomputer main program, interrupt service routine and control routines.The control system is used for submersible tubular linear permanent magnet synchronous motors within the low frequency range, whose main function is to provide linear motor drive power, setting operating parameters, condition monitoring and display, process control and to provide security protection for the system.Finally, in order to maximize the driving force of submersible pumping system, the transverse flux cylindrical linear permanent magnet motor is described in this paper. The advantage of the transverse flux cylindrical linear permanent magnet motor is reflected, compared with the (radial magnetic flux) cylindrical linear permanent magnet motor in the stator and rotor structure, so that it has an important potential applications and research value of submersible linear motor pumping system.
