The stochastic, intermittent and uncontrollable characters of wind generation will cause voltage fluctuation and flicker when connected to the grid. With the increase of the wind generation, its voltage fluctuation and flicker will be one of the main limits of the installed capacity of wind generation. The approximate models of the aerodynamic effects, such as the Tower Effect, were established in this paper, and added to the dynamic model of the wind generators. The model of wind farm was established in PSCAD/EMTDC, and then incorporated into the IEEE 5-bus system. The influences to the flicker of every aerodynamic effect were confirmed by simulation. The Static Var Compensator (SVC) was installed at the point of common connection (PCC). By comparing of the simulation results of voltage fluctuation and flicker before and after the SVC was equipped, it was confirmed that the SVC could improve the voltage fluctuation and flicker induced by wind farm effectively.
