In China, the majority of the power plants are used coal as main fuel. Therefore, environment pollution is particularly serious, especially in small and medium sized generating units, many units face the fate of cut-off. Solar energy is inexhaustible, renewable, and is a kind of green energy. According to the specific characteristics of the structure of Chinese energy and the solar energy resources, in order to exploit energy better, this paper searched for the new access to technology energy conservation and solar energy large-scale use in power plant by way of analyzing the solar energy and fossil fuels integrated thermal power generation system, on the purpose of energy conservation and environmental protection. This study discussed the modes of hybrid power generation which solar energy was as an auxiliary heat source to hybrid with the coal-fired generating units. Taking a 200MW power plant unit as an example, it analyzed the thermal economy in different integrated modes and variation of thermal economy in different solar irradiance to determine the optimal integrated mode and make the technical economic feasibility study for the optimal integrated mode.
