In this paper, the energy-saving potential based on the thermodynamic theory'fuel specific consumption analysis'of the ultra-supercritical boiler are analyzed, the role of economizer in the ultra-supercritical boiler and its limitations are discussed. A bold assumption program is removing the boiler economizer, through the rational layout air preheater and extraction steam system to low the exhaust gas temperature and improve the feed water temperature. By the thermodynamic calculation of a ultra-supercritical boiler transformed before and after, analyze and compare the thermal efficiency and trends. Moreover, by the analysis of the second law thermodynamics of a ultra-supercritical boiler transformed before and after, analyze and compare the second law efficiency and trends. All of these verify the theoretical feasibility of the program. Finally, It is concluded that the reasons to improve ultra-supercritical boiler thermal efficiency further, and its contribution to energy conservation for the power plant.
