The fracturing problem of concrete dams directly influences the safety of hydropower station. Cracks development and change in concrete dams will directly affect the dam's strength and overall structural characteristics. As the existence of cracks in the dam,, the crack will continue to expand by the role of sustained load, eventually lead to further dam material brittle fracture, thus speeding up the structural failure. Therefore, to ascertain the mechanical properties of concrete dam cracks and demonstrates the extent to which cracks will affect the overall safety of the dam is an urgent topic need to be solved.Based on the 19th section and 14 section of Huilong dam, this paper applies finite element method, the three-dimensional dam model has been established. Calculating the temperature field and thermal stress field, the impact factors of temperature load, ice pressure and other loads that are applied on the concrete of dam, stresses in the location of cracks are analyzed, as well as the main reasons for cracking of concrete dam. Combining with practical engineering, ANSYS software is used for calculation and static analysis of cracking. The following aspects are studied:A reasonable finite calculated element model is established, linear calculation is made on the basic load on the dam of pre-cracking.the stress distribution is obtained at the Typical Location, then compare the effect of the different loads on the structure, and the impact of crack friction coefficient on dam deformation and stress, analyze the causes of cracking.In this paper, the typical dam section of Huilong dam with horizontal cracks are numerical analzed, and the results will have a profound effect on similar projects.
