As the development of the computer technology, the present software could not satisfy the application of traction power supply system any more. Because the information has been provided more intuitionisticly and visually, the graphic technique becomes popular, which is essential for different systems. With the knowledge about computer graphic technique and traction power supply system, the common graphic platform is designed and about which problems are studied in the paper, based on Object-Oriented methods, visual programming tool and database development tool.Firstly, the development of the graphic technique is introduced, as well as the application condition of the graphic technique in protective relay programming of the traction power supply system. A new programming method is proposed to realize the protective relay in traction power supply system—graphic programming platform for protective relay in traction power supply system basing on PAD, which is based on the disadvantage analysis of the present programming method and the characteristics of the protective relay in traction power supply system. The main idea of the graphic protection is that:the protective flow chart is made according to reference protection, and the graphic program is made on protective platform, after compiling which, the executable program can be obtained. At last the executable program is downloaded to hardware platform. The object oriented programming is used to realize the graphic element modeling, as well as some main programs in the graphic platform are introduced.In order to facilitate organizing and inquiring the graphic data,3 tier database application program basing on SQL Server 2000 and Delphi 7 is used to store and gain data in the graphic platform, and the structure of the graphic database is discussed in detail. A convenient database access interface is designed with advanced BDE database component, which is compatible with the other database. The interface realizes the gallery integration easily, which not only reduces the mistake when setting the system dada, but also improves the efficiency greatly.The application of the interrupt program for transformer protection shows the advantage and feasibility of the graphic programming applied in protective relay of the traction power supply system.
