"Street" stressed areas, which provides public "civilized way of life"; "Road" emphasizes the linear channel, which is people, materials or distribution channels. The dual functions of street determine the complexity and dynamic of urban street space. Now many streets over-emphasis on the function of circulation, while ignoring the communications between sites. City squares, pedestrian streets and other typical urban construction of public space are much concern with, but the walking space that more closely linked to daily life is rare interested in.This paper attempts to pay close attention to people, which is the use of the main street space, and analysis issues such as scale annihilation and loss of street life. Then, the paper obtained the human characteristics of street space through the analysis of specific examples in Beijing. By analysising the relationship between site construction and street elements, scale design and other human factors at macro, meso and micro three different levels, I expect to form basic framework of human formation of street space through the control and guidance. At last, I hope this paper can provide some reference for urban street space at this stage.
