Three-dimensional Reticulated Vierendeel Shell is a new form of space structures, which can be seen as two same curvature single-layer spherical lattice shells with three-dimensional grids only connected by web members, and all web members point to curvature center. In order to grasp the mechanical characteristics of this structure, the stability and seismic performance were studied by ANSYS in this paper.Firstly, eigenvalue buckling analysis and geometrical nonlinear stability analysis of three-dimensional reticulated vierendeel shell were investigated. And calculating the buckling load and the buckling mode, analyzing the influence on the ultimate strength of this structure by different parameters including rise-to-span ratio, shell thickness and section area of the web members. Moreover, the above results were compared with those of the single-layer spherical lattice shell.Secondly, dynamic characteristic of three-dimensional reticulated vierendeel shell was researched. Caculating the frequencies and mode shapes by subspace iteration method, and analyzing the influence on the natural frequency of three-dimensional reticulated vierendeel shell by different parameters including rise-to-span ratio, shell thickness, section area of the web member, load size and the support restraint. Finally, the earthquake response analysis was studied by using response spectrum method and time history analysis method for three-dimensional reticulated vierendeel shell. The seismic dynamic response and displacement changes were carried out under the horizontal, vertical and combinations of horizontal and vertical earthquake actions. By comparing the results of response spectrum method with the results of time history analysis method, some valuable references were concluded for the seismic design of this structure.
