Ergonomics In Students Apartment Furniture Design And Research

With the development of our country's economy and society, standard of people's living has been raised greatly. The investment of national education is increasing year by year. Every year government spent a lot of money, manpower and material resources to promote the development of education. Our colleges also put amount of money on building library, multimedia instruction and laboratory, especially the hardware facilities got great improved. But the subsidiary facilities of student apartment are not satisfactory, and this is also one of the most important problems about the bad situation of student apartment's internal environment. Current student apartment furniture is all alike and lifeless, they can not satisfy contemporary college students, what they really like is pursuing fashion and personality. The reason is that our furniture designer did not design from the students` perspective or in their ways to think about the life.Contemporary college students` standard of life has been improved, and the products` material functionality can not satisfy them. And the need of great material functionality is the minimum requirement, which is the necessary condition of a apartment furniture. In college students` views, their apartment is not only for their rest, but also where they do their works, entertainment and communication. Besides its function for using, as a part to divide apartment space, apartment furniture affects students who live in apartment a lot.Care for people is any humanizing product should satisfy the need of people, so the student apartment furniture design also based on it. Ergonomics in student apartment furniture design also should start with students` physiologic, psychical needs, research on"human -furniture -environment"system, aesthetic consciousness and culture etc.The purpose of this thesis is stating ergonomics design philosophy through a humanizing student apartment furniture design. It sees human as the first thing to consider, and its point is the influence interdependency and of the interaction between human, furniture and environment. Guiding the furniture design based on people oriented, making our design work full of human care.The first part of this thesis states what actually ergonomics is, why we need humanizing student apartment furniture, what kind of furniture exactly satisfy the need of ergonomics through research on the details of ergonomics, its research method and the relationship with design.The second part of this thesis analyzes the physical characteristics and psychological function through research on the relationship between the furniture's functional sizes and human body's sizes, and the psychological characteristics when people use these products.The third part of this thesis is the design work of student apartment furniture through the conclusions before. This part also states the ergonomics in product design through the design work.
