The object of this paper is wheel reducer of heavy trucks.3-D model of a wheel reducer has been established, the dynamic performance of planetary gears analyzed, and the structure redesigned,which strengthens the reducer intensity effectively.Wheel reducer is a key mechanism of heavy trucks, cross-country trucks and engineering machinery. 3-D establishment and finite element analysis on dynamic peformance would contribute to the design and application.This paper introduces dynamic simulation on the variation of stresses in contact procedures with application of explicit finite element algorithm and establishment of corresponding mathematical model.The center of force, transmission of stresses and variation of energy have been analyzed.Vibration and noise caused during the planetary gears movement greatly affects wheel reducer performance.Modal analysis has been made on the planetary gears. The intrinsic frequency and mode of vibration have been obtained, and influence of each part of the mechanism on the reducer vibtaion has been analyzed.The structure of wheel reducer is directly determined by the dimension of planetary gears. With the application of optimization software, constraint condition has been established regarding minimum volume as objective function.The optimized structure has been proved to have strengthened carring capacity.
