As the last gearing of the driving axle transmission in heavy vehicles, the function of wheel-side reducer is to reduce speed and generate large torque. It can decrease the load affected on the differential gear, gearbox, transmission shaft, main reducer and other components under the same total speed ratio, also can acquire larger clearance from the ground. Therefore, the wheel-side reducer is widely used in load truck, off-road vehicle and engineering machinery.There is a very important practical significance in the study of wheel for the future development of theoretical basis.This thesis focuses on the following aspects:First of all, this thesis has introduced the working principle of the wheel-side reducer, described and analyzed the characteristics of planetary wheel reducer. It also introduced the reason of planetary wheel invalid, from machining, heating treatment, to other aspects of the use of maintenance made elaborate.Secondly, wheel-side reducer models are built by three-dimensional drawing software SOLIDWORKS, ANSYS software was used to execute strength analysis. The quality of the mesh is related to the accuracy of the analysis results. Stress cloud map of every gear can be drawn,and the equivalent stress maximum can be found at the contact position and tooth root.Finally, with S-N curve of gear materials imported, the distribution of wheel-side reducer fatigue life can be got using finite element fatigue analysis module. The wheel-side reducer fatigue life cloud map and stress cloud map are similar. Lower fatigue life appears at the gear contact areas and tooth root, which is consistent with the actual gear fatigue failure. The conclusion verifies that the fatigue simulation results have some significance.
