Involute helical gear have large coincidence and transmission stably,so it was widely used in machinery, mining, metallurgy, aerospace and other fields. In order to reduce the Involute gear's stress concentration, improve its carrying capacity, So most of people proposed to use the method of longitudinal modification to improve its contact characteristics. As the Involute gear has simple Structure and easy modification, the amount of modification is easy to control, It can achieve excellent results in practicaly. But structure of the helical gear's structure is complicated, the factors of causing partial load and stress concentration are very more, both method and practice are difficult to determine and calculate. So this article research on the involute helical gear modification method and modification of the amount.Author analyzed the Involute Gear various modification methods and compared their advantages with disadvantages; Analysis variety of reasons of the impact of contact state, and uneven distribution of stress along the longitudinal.On this basis, using advantage modeling software and analysis repairing involute helical gear and methods of amount modification.This article selects a pair of gear parameters, Create a pair of helical gears solid model in UG, then by medium of between UG and ANSYS Workbench, set the model into ANSYS Workbench. then carried out static finite element analysis,get the gear contact stress distribution. The analysis of stress distribution show that : Longitudinal contact stress distribution is inequality, exist greater contact stress in the two points of contact line. In order to reduce the longitudinal contact stress distribution, this article compares the various characteristics of gear modification methods, Finally select a simple,feasible and effective modification method.According to the bending deformation and torsional deformation along the axis, obtained parameters of the helical gears modification.After modeling and anysis,Compare with before and after modification, Comparison results show that: after the modification,gear contact stress distribution is gentle,the proposed for the helical gear modification program is simple and feasible.
