| In 1982, the United Nations held the World Assembly on Aging in Vienna. It was then predicted that all countries in the world would enter the aging society. The problems caused by the aging of population, such as, the arrangement for the elderly, the prevention and treatment for the elderly, the improvement of elderly service, have become the important subject all the countries will be confronted with in the beginning of 21st century.According to the statistics collected by the United Nations, France appeared to be the first aging country in the world in the middle of 19th century, and subsequently, Switzerland and Norway joined this group in 1890. Currently, the number of countries and districts with the aging population has reached up to 72. These countries have joined the list of aging society after they had become rich, however, the situation of our country is just the other way around. Because the aging cause falls behind the economic and social development obviously, there exists the severe lack of various facilities for the elderly in our country. Furthermore, through researching, referring to the aged supporting model of other countries and consulting our own country's experiences, the author find that, among all kinds of old-age supporting ways, only supporting the elderly in community is suitable for our country. Therefore, it brings great challenges to the designers.Considering the old people's demands and the overall residential environment, this thesis points out the way of supporting the elderly by settling down instead of simple construction. The thesis develops from three aspects: the analysis of the problems existing in the communities through questionnaire and field study, the principles taken to solve the problems and their solutions. Different ways of supporting the elderly are needed under different social backgrounds and the provision of suitable living environment for the elderly is regarded as one way in nature. In order to know the elder's demand of the living environment, the author investigates 19 communities in Zhengzhou city and mainly analyses the relation between demand and possibility, based on which the author provides specific principles and solutions to the problems about the old people's living environment. |
