Relative internal efficiency of steam turbine is an important economic index to reflect flow section running state.On-line monitoring relative internal efficiency of the turbine is better for operators comprehending the running economy states timely and provided a basis for excavating potential energy-saving in order to improve the steam turbine operation standard.First, conventional algorithm is introduced in detail in this paper.But, it is difficult to apply conventional thermal test to solve mass and energy equations to obtain exhaust enthalpy, so a new power relative internal efficiency concept is put forward in order to analyze its superiority and equivalency superior to conventional algorithm . The influence of power-type relative internal efficiency can be determined by changing the heater temperature difference, heater extraction steam pressure loss and the amount of heating and industrial steam extraction, thus to determine the relative internal efficiency from the power-based diagnostic system with a regenerative turbine flow section.Second, a new method combined power-type relative internal efficiency is brought out to diagnosis the flow section of steam turbine, and determine the reason whether flow section is scaling or clearance changed or not.At last, take the data from a 135MW power plant for example, the thermal economy of units is diagnosed ,the location and factors of reducing the thermal economy of units is also analyzed.
