To meet the needs of economic development, transportation network is gradually formed. Because of the road and railway network construction, various bridges and other projects across the river have been gradually increasing. In particular, more and more bridges have been built across the Yangtze River, which is one of the main inland water shipping routes. Bridges across the Yangtze River have been built more and more intensive in the same district such as Wuhan, Nanjing and so on. These bridges are forming a bridge group. The bridge, as a city's important transportation infrastructure, plays an irreplaceable role in promoting economic and social development, however, the existence of bridge crossing the river makes the channel narrow, affects the navigation environment in waters adjoining bridge in various degrees, threats the safety of ship's navigation to a certain extent. Also it boosts more mental pressure when navigating mates manipulate the ship through multiple bridges continuously, which leads to ship-bridge collisions easily. The situation of water traffic safety over multi-bridge river is alarming.Faced with these realities, how to improve the situation of water traffic safety over multi-bridge river is a job of practically significant. However, the premise of this work is the risk assessment of water traffic safety. Only by understanding their risk profile can we take appropriate measures suiting the remedy to the case. FSA method is a systematic and structured risk assessment method, which give help to develop reasonably practicable rules, and provide risk prevention or control programs as fully as possible. This method can be used in post-analysis after an accident, also can be used in precautions by analysing the probability of potential risk of the object being evaluated. This thesis aims to apply the FSA method to the risk assessment of water traffic safety over multi-bridge river, through the risk assessment, we can understand and master the risk degree of the navigable environment better, also the dangerous conditions of various indicators. In this way, it will provide scientific decision-making basis and reference for the maritime administration to improve the navigable environment and traffic safety of multi-bridge river.This thesis contains the following five parts:The first part is an introduction, which describes the background, purpose, significance and the research method; The second part is the introduction of risk assessment methods, making it clear that this paper puts the idea of FSA method to the work of risk assessment of water traffic safety over multi-bridge river and uses fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to do the specific job-- establish the appropriate risk assessment model; The third part is risk assessment of water traffic safety over multi-bridge river, which put emphasis on the process of establishing the risk assessment model; The fourth section is about the application of the model established by chapter three, taking the Nanjing Yangtze Bridge River for example, giving the specific assessment value and result, proposing corrective measures; The fifth part is the conclusion and outlook, which summarizes the contents of this paper and presents the deficiencies of this paper.
