With the surging development of the intergration level of the electronic and telecom products, lightning discharge is getting harder to control and produces much more impacts on electronic and telecom products and signal cables. especially for the use of electronic and telecom terminal products, owing to various designers and the weak awareness of anti-lightning surge as well as the complicated working environment and conditions. The design and use of electronic and telecom terminal products has become the focus of the public attention. The over-voltage produced by lightning surges is one of main reasons that create electronic equipment failure or accident.According to analyze how lightning affects indoor electronic devices and how to protect them effectively by surge protective devices (SPD). It not only has certain theory significance but also has economic benefit,and has cetern guiding significance in actual job.In view of the EMC problem of electronic and telecom terminal products, this study used a more practical EMC designing method and principle, basing on xDSL terminal products. According to the YD/T993-2006 principle, this paper analyzed the features of surge disturbances in lightning surge experiments. Through the method of distribution statistical analysis to detect the failure parts of rework xDSL terminal products,according to the product failure phenomena,cofirmed the primary failure parts and determined the main path of lightning surges flow into product, verified the effectiveness of these judgements and find the main source of xDSL end product problem.Analyse the key protectors characteristics of protecting lightning surge, such as the DSL transformers,Network port transformer,High-voltage capacitor of network port in the DSL terminal products, each of them were carried out on high pressure and resistance to lightning surge test, furthermore, different combinations to meet different levels of lightning surge test requirements, and the problem can be reproduced through simulation test.This paper combined the features of xDSL terminal products'main ports, seeking ways from PCB LAYOUT, circuit design and protective devices.According to the detailed requirements of protective system,considering the applicable scope and the characteristics of various surge protective devices,rational collocation can improve the ability of xDSL terminal products, and the feasibilities of those ways are proved by practical case.
