The popularity of high efficiency electric products has brought convenience to human lives, which however, has drawn more and more attention to the electromagnetic environment pollution problem.Among these products, lighting equipments(LE) are one of the mostly and commonly used. The importance of electromagnetic compatibility(EMC) tests has gained a significant position during recent years. Lighting equipment EMC performance has already become one of the main quality aspects. LE EMC tests are not only for products quality supervision but for the insurance of the normal functions of other sensitive electric and electronic equipments as well. Because of the wide range of LE application and the huge variety of product types, the EMC test should be very challenging. Focused on the European Committee's EMC requirements on LE, CEN( the European Committee for Standardization) has issued EN62493: 2010 Assessment of lighting equipment related to human exposure to electromagnetic fields. Since February 1st, 2013, products performance must be evaluated according to EN 62493 requirements during the application of CE and GS(German Safety) certificate. This standard has put forward EM exposure assessment requirements related to LE which will certainly have an important effect on designing and certification tests of LE exported to European market. From above, it can be easily concluded that LE EMC tests are highly technology based and have a well promised application future.In this essay, radiated emission(RE) test CDN method test ability was verified by means of conducting comparison tests, LE light intensity monitoring device was developed, LE electromagnetic susceptibility(EMS) test ability was enlarged and proper test sample supporting material was selected by comparison and verification, thus increasing the LE RE test ability. For those qualified tests items, attempts are made to ensure and enhance test ability by improving test accuracy, stability and efficiency. For those unqualified test items, induction current density test was studied on test method, test conditions, test setup and instruments calibration. Especially, deep research was made on test method and test sample supporter was made to adapt to different LE.Through the making of LE light intensity monitoring device, the incompetence of quantified monitoring was made up during LE EMS tests. With the promotion of this device, the overall testing ability of domestic testing facilities can be improved. With the proper selection of RE test sample supporting material, the problem of electromagnetic wave reflection affecting the RE test results can be solved.Through further improvements of the LE EMC testing ability of the company, better technological support are offered to the LE EMC tests and certification process of our country before exportation.
