An ARM-based embedded communications management hardware and software platform system was designed and implemented, which had been applied in the ZBH-600 digital transformer protection device. In the hardware, adopting the ARM processor, the author developed the common hardware platform system which contained embedded control, data collection interaction and network communication, so it is significant to the reliability and network flexibility of the intelligent embedded system. And in the software, the author adopted the embedded Real-time Operating System, and selected the communication interface standard of the IEC 60870-5-103 protocol and COMTRADE Data Format, and solved a lot of series of detail problems, which had existed in developing the communication interface of the microcomputer protection equipment, by the consistency and interoperability of the standard protocol. While the communications management system was used in the ZBH-600 digital transformer protection device, it had been verified by the protocol standard consistency test, dynamic model test and field operations, the results show that the system has good expansibility, high reliability and easy maintenance.
