Substation automation system is safe, reliable operation of the important security, remote monitoring and control terminal as an important component of the substation automation system, play an important role to guarantee the safe operation of power systems. The issue on the basis of the analysis the current remote monitoring and control of hardware and software installations, and through the research of new technology in the embedded filed in recent years, a new type of remote monitoring and control of the terminal design, through to Further integration, improve the overall performance measurement and control devices.The issue use the embedded systems (ARM + Linux) Design and Realization of the basic functions of remote monitoring and control of the terminal, through the research of the Linux driver and related technology, design and planning of the overall system software framework programme, through the research of Qt-embedded graphics Application tools, realized the graphical interface of the remote monitoring and control terminal, and also realized the basic functions of the IEC60870-5-104 communication protocol, this paper's research can be summed up in a total of the following five aspects:1, Proposed the the overall hardware programme of the remote monitoring and control of the terminal, design the main module circuit board of the system.Use the S3C2440 microprocessor as the core, according to the functions of monitoring and control terminal needs, put forward "ARM+DSP+MCU" hardware system design program, realized the function of the main board.2, Transplantation of the embedded Linux operating system and study related technologies of Linux. understand the mechanisms of Linux kernel, And make the Linux file system of the RTU, Study the realated knowledget driver of the Linux, And designed the CAN bus module drivers of the Linux system.3, Developed the graphical interface of the RTU. Through research and learning of the graphical technology of Qt/Embedded, And realized the support of Chinese display and a custom keyboard, In accordance with the remote monitoring and control of the terminal graphical user functional requirements, design graphics interface system, Implementation of the user interface to the normal operation and response.4, Designed and Realized the data Communication between different process. Through analysis of the Linux process communication mechanism, using the shared memory, the signal and FIFO methods to realization the different data sharing.5, Through the research and analysis of the IEC60870-5-104 communication protocol's mechanism, realizaed the basic functions of IEC60870-5-104, detailed analysis of the timer's part of the IEC60870-5-104, useing Linux Socket Communications mechanism proposed system of communication Model, design the receive state machine of the RTU and the system IEC60870-5-104 data processing transfer state model.
