Parabolic trough collectors are the mid-high temperature solar collectors. Based on the research of heat loss theory of parabolic trough collectors, the performance of collectors can be grasped. It presents an effective orientation for the modification of existing collector technology and improvement of efficiency of the solar thermal utilization. In this paper, first, the existing heat transfer model was optimized, based on the accuracy validation of the model, quantitative analysis was taken to the affected factors of collector efficiency. Based on this, according to the heat transfer and transformation process of parabolic trough collectors, some main kinds of heat loss are calculated and analyzed. The main affected factors of thermal efficiency were concluded. For the solar field adopting direct steam generation (DSG) system, the property of hydrodynamic was initially discussed and the work of recirculation pump was calculated.
