The performance of stepper motor is not only related to the characteristics of motor body, but also the functions of the driver. According to the common two-phase hybrid stepper motor, the paper researched on subdivision drive and proposed a stepper motor subdivision drive based on RBF neural network.This paper designed a stepper motor subdivision driver based on FPGA. The concrete contents include following parts:Firstly, it introduced the development situation and control method of stepper motor, analyzed the frequent problems of the stepper motor, and explained the significance of stepper motor drive research.Secondly, it started with the two-phase hybrid stepper motor, introduced the structure of the stepper motor, and analyzed its working principle. This paper analyzed several approaches of drive in detail and emphasised on the principle of subdivision drive.Thirdly, the paper discussed the tuning RBF neural network of stepper motor PID controller. At the same time its Matlab simulation was carried out and compared with the traditional PID controller.Finally, an overall scheme of the subdivision drive controller was proposed. FPGA is the key control device of the system, and the paper also gave the hardware block diagram of the subdivision drive controller.
