Transformer is an important equipment in the power system, and its fault will bring serious threat to the safe operation of the power system. Therefore, it has great significance for monitoring operation state of the transformer. In this thesis, a device is developed to monitor the operation of the transformer by measuring its vibration and noise. Not only can this device monitor vibration and noise, but also can monitor voltage, current, power and harmonics according to actual needs. The hardware part of this device is composed of sensor, charge amplifier and industrial control computer system. Its software part, which is on the basis of the Lab VIEW virtual instrument development platform, is further improved for original monitoring software, and GIC alarm module, harmonic monitoring module, database storage module, power measurement module are designed. Finally this device are tested in the laboratory by using a transformer, and applied at LinFen 500 kV substation in ShanXi province.
