Collaborative Transportation (CT) is a newly developed logistics modular where third-party transportation companies work collaboratively to diminish the vehicle idle rate, and benefit themselves with lower transportation cost and higher operation efficiency. As a powerful tool that facilitates supply chain integration, CT is gaining more and more attention from both the industries and academics. This thesis would carry out an analysis on Collaborative Transportation Decision-making for practical purpose from the angle of Supply Chain Management, Operational Research, and Game Theory. Three main tasks have been accomplished:First, discussed the concepts, theories, and methodologies of CT; discussed the methods to distribute profits and risks among CT partners; concluded the target system and implementation of CT.Secondly, a multi-target CT optimization model was built to optimize vehicle quantity and total transportation cost simultaneously. The model allows more than one vehicle load to fulfill one depot's requirement in transportation route planning, which enables multi-vehicle delivery to one depot. The model was then tested with the testing data using Heuristic Algorithm. Finally, an investigation of the implementation of CT in certain city has been carried out. Taken into consideration the data collected from the investigation and the test results of the multi-target CT optimization model, suggestions on both organizational level and operational level were made to enhance the further development and implementation of CT.It has demonstrated that this thesis is both practical and feasible.
