Since it has resulted in various structure damages to different extent that the earthquakes took place currently and frequently all over the world, the seismic reinforcement becomes the focal point of our study and research now. The assessment to the constructions'anti-seismic capability in earthquake regions, and the improvement for the constructions'anti-seismic performance as well, has mostly attracted the focus of engineers in this domain as well as the relevant government departments. In such a case, the country newly formulated the latest norms and suggestions for seismic reinforcement. In addition, the architectures with low frame sturcture in the earthquake zone also require reinforcement, as the local seismic fortification intensity increases.Building shear wall into the low frame structure is a useful and effective method for reinforcement, which avoids the defects, such as operational complication, of other reinforcement techniques, for example, the method of increasing section area, and improves the structure's anti-seismic performance, as well as promotes its safety.Based on the influence of wind load and geological process, shear wall turns into the main lateral force resisting component. Rational layout of shear wall is able to control the consitruction's shifting and shaking efficiently and make the distribution of internal force more reasonable. The height-to-width aspect ratio of shear wall in low frame structure is generally less than 1, which is called low shear wall. This kind of shear wall would come about shear deformation due to the effect of horizontal load, and finally causes brittle shear failure. Hence, the anti-seismic performance of low shear wall is asking for improvement, to avoid the use of ordinary reinforced concrete solid wall.This essay is to establish a 3-storey low frame model with the structure analysis software MIDAS, according to the new seismic norms and latest scientific research achievements on the aspect of low shear wall, and leverage the reinforcement technique of adding shear wall into it to improve the seismic fortificaiton intensity from 7 to 8. Next, determine the location of the shear wall built additionally in terms of its layout principles. Furthermore, compare the models before and after adding shear walls, and analyze the functions of the shear walls on controlling the structural displacement and distortion as well as vibration, and the impact on the internal force of frame colume. Finally, analyze the failure features of low shear walls and the improving methods with the comparison between the shear walls in my model and those in a 6-storey frame shear wall model.
