Communication Based Train Control System(CBTC) is different from the traditional train control system. It controls the train in high-precision positioning by the continuous, high-speed and two-way train-wayside data communication. Compared with traditional train control systems, CBTC is a moving block system, which will improve the urban rail transportation system performance from capacity, headway and train travel speed, as well as the system safety.Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) is an important subsystem of CBTC to control the train in high-speed and normal operation. This paper firstly introduced the CBTC principle, structure and the key technology. And followed by the details of the ATS system architecture. ATS system function requirements are detailed analyzed through the case mode diagrams. Then it is the detail design and implementation. The main contents are:1. Train identification and tracking:This function is the important for realizing the monitoring and control of the train. By the relationship of the train identifier, train id window and track circuit the train id can move along with the train identifier, so that to realized the train tracking function2. Schedule Management:It is the basis to make the trains can operate according to the schedule. Train operation adjustment is the strategies which adopted in the condition when the train deviates the schedule of the situation. The paper realized the analysis and design of the structural and adjustment strategy of the timetable.3. Train route control:Rout Table stored all the routes that searched by the algorithm. When the train arrived the trigger section, it will automatically select a correct route and initiate the route setting command to interlocking system. In some situation, the operator can also manually set a route at the switch area.4. Station control:it designs the function of the station according to the situation when the train is far from the schedule in the actual operation. It includes station hold, set dwell time and station skip.5. All the functions are tested under the simulation mode. The last is the summary of the paper and the prospects for the further study.
