This paper described the development and requirement background of pulsed power technology, explained the linear transformer driver (LTD) technology, summarized the status in quo and development direction in future. Based on this, one of the key technologies of LTD was emphasis analyzed:The synchronized trigger technology of switch. The paper analyzed the elements of chose TPI series pseudospark switch in theory, researched and designed the trigger system of the switch and done the experiment.In theory, the paper analyzed the gas discharge theoretic and its physics process at first. In this course, the work and characteristic of cold cathode thyratron was emphasis analyzed. The paper summarized the trigger technologies of TPI series pseudospark switch, analyzed the contrast of those trigger technologies, and chose the trigger mode called double pulse with direct preionisation current. This trigger mode could ensure the low jitter performance, and the largest life time and current rise rate.In research and design, the paper aimed at achieving the trigger system with performance of steady, low jitter and small volume. The designed trigger system used the multiple voltage circuit output 1800V high voltage, supplying the direct preionisation current, reduced the power and volume. The switch of pulse generate circuit used the super speed IGBT with high controllable, high speed and low jitter, achieved the steady and low jitter work of trigger system, the output trigger voltage has 26ns rise time, the jitter is about Ins. In order to ensure the high performance of TPI1-10k/50, the delay time between the double pulse is about 800ns, the paper used monostable circuit achieve the delay time and it can adjust between 800±100ns accurately in Ins. The trigger system can trigger two thyratron at the same time, achieved the compact of the trigger system, and it can avoid the grid spike come into the inner circuit of trigger system.In experiment, the paper researched the jitter characteristic of TPI1-10k/50 based on the researched trigger system, through adjusting the heater voltage, direct preionisation current, trigger current and anode voltage of switch, analyzed the influence of trigger parameter to delay time and jitter of the switch, and get the optimization trigger condition of TPI1-10k/50. Through the experiment, using the researched trigger system, the switch can work at the 40kV,16kA, pulse wide 200ns, repetition rate 20Hz within 2ns jitter. At last, the paper used the TPI1-10k/50 and the researched trigger system in the pulsed power system based on the pulse forming net combine LTD, achieved the synchronized work of the 20 pulsed forming unit.This paper achieved the synchronized work of TPI1-10k/50 and applied it in the linear transformer driver, the research result established the groundwork for developing the compact pulsed power system based on pulse forming net combine LTD.
