Space grid structure is widely used in sports centers, exhibition centers, cinemas and theaters, airport lounges and other public buildings structure due to some advantages such as reasonable mechanical performance, beautiful appearance, high utilization of space volume. Flat grid structures are generally hybrid structural systems, in which form roof structures present steel grid, while supporting structure present concrete frame, shear walls or steel frame. Limited to the lack of structural design software features, usually the upper flat grid and supporting structure are separated for structural design, which has a great difference with the performance of actual structure, resulting in some conservatism and insecurity.Taken the specific project of flat grid stadium in a university in Lanzhou for example, the model of upper flat grid and supporting structure as a whole is made using the finite element analysis software in this paper. The performances of the whole model and the upper flat grid model alone are compared adequately from three aspects including the overall stability, temperature effect and seismic action. In addition, the affect of different simplified methods of upper flat grid to the supporting structure under horizontal seismic action is analyzed. The results show that the data obtained from different analytical models vary, some data are quite different, from which some rational design suggestions are obtained, and those suggestions can provide some reference for the design and analysis of similar projects in the future.
