Today, there are many campaigns like City Beautiful Movement in major cities in China, such as the construction of the urban landscape road, renovation of the city streets, beautification of public places, etc. The essence is that we often hear of the City Beautiful Movement.From sixties of last century, the city's street beautification movement in China appear to promote the generation of urban design, to the 80's, the success of the renovation of the city of Tianjin has created a good urban environment, as the increasingly unimaginative urban renovation of Dalian,nowadays the City Beautiful Movement has become more and more popular all over the country in China. Xi'an has also carried out the renovation project from 2009, as a historical and cultural city, its historic environment has a long history. Now the development of the city become more and more faster,but there is a huge problem we face which is the lack of standards of urban development in all aspects. Therefore, it is urgent to plan and to research the city color and building color of Xi'an,and the city color shoud be planned and controled to develop appropriate atmosphere in the city.This paper studied the city color and the color control of Xi'an from the geographical features, cultural features, buildings of historical factors and present urban construction.The author tried to provide a basic research of the accelerating nowadays urban renovation.The old city area of Ming dynasty in XI'AN is located in the cross area of the ancient part and the renewal part.In research of the city, you can find the origin which represent the city(for the city it is traceable, historic or commemorative value, Urban Elements, which may be a building, a block, a road, a plaza, a structure, etc).Of their field studies on the origin of these cities according to their impact for the city which divided into four different levels, Listed for each level of color control area, scope and area of these cities based on color control, summarized this Xi'an renovation project to present in the future in any such activities should be related to views on how to proceed.
