Some Ideas On Landscape Design Of Medicinal Plant Garden In Campus

Practice is a very important thing to the education in the vocational education. It is a necessary method to ensure and improve the education quality for pharmacy. It is meaningful to combine the theory and practice, understand the knowledge and improve the skills to resolve real problems. So, as the practical base, the medicinal plant garden is useful for the education and practice. Meanwhile, as the part of the campus landscape, the medicinal plant garden can beautify the environment and adjust the ecology in the campus.We start from the classification and characteristic of the medicinal plants and the functionality of medicinal plant garden. Then we introduce that medicinal plant garden can provide the education, research, popular science, view for vocational education. As the example from Hangzhou First Technician College, we discuss the design principal and existence problems, and show how we improve the beautiful landscape based on the basic functionality of the medicinal plant garden in the campus. It can improve the ecological environment, campus culture, education and research. The major skills include:1) The partition rationalizeWe separated the whole medicinal plant garden into 7 parts.2) Redesign the lanesWe changed the existence road to lanes and now we are using narrow but high density lanes, so all the lanes can separate the whole garden into parts with fit size. For the places that are too narrow, we use rectangular slabs of stone with 60cm width to separate the parts and specific ways.Besides, for the education convenience, we choose an open square as the gathering place for the students in every fixed distance. It can be a platform, or lawn, for teacher to explain better. On the other hand, the combination of points, lines and planes can take advantage for people to visit for the landscape point of view.3) The change of planting way and space arrangementThe original medicinal plant garden used a regular order to plant. Though it is easy to classify, it doesn't fit to the style and environment we want. So we changed the way of planting from regular order to natural. We organize all the plants based on plant community to build stable artificial communities. These communities can satisfy the requirement for the plants to grow healthy. And they can also construct the landscape in picturesque disorder to retrieve the artistic effect. We plan the medicinal plant garden according to the terrain and create multi-level space to show the specimen of medicinal plants and their growth environment. After all, the medicinal plants garden can satisfy our requirement for research, popular science, education, view and relaxation in it.
