Using the research methods of field surveys and theoretical analysis, this paper try to discuss the structure and layout of residential space, morphological characteristics of the settlement and residences, providing reference materials for the study of techniques and practices of traditional settlements planning in China.On the one hand, the article rooted in the context of the settlement Lanche village--natural and social environment aspects are summarized, research the "TaihangJin," "XingzhaoYi", "Lanche" and so on. Those name of the origin and history History, traced the story of the ancient sages and to the historical, folk heritage aspects of local culture and so on.On the other hand, the author in accordance with planning, architecture research methods, use of classification and induction, general extraction, graphical analysis and other means, from macro to micro,discussed the residential form and spatial form of Lanche Traditional settlement. The chapter of traditional settlement analysised the site layout, road system, building form. The chapter of traditional residences analysised the housing function, form and spatial characteristics of the three, while investigating the technical and decorative achievements.At last, based on the analysis of settlement pattern, the paper explore its protection and development, and put forward the opinion that reasonable using is effective protection, and point out that for processing the relations between the protection and the development, so we must prevent the traveling and commercial overdevelopment, further more it requires the multiple co-operation modalities and coordinate the interests of all parties.
