Huge rotating machines are indispensable to petrochemical industry. With the ever-increasing speed of the modern rotating machines, it is urgent that we solve the problem of unbalance of rotor systems. After a great quantity of research in this field, we have accomplished to resolve the rotor unbalance more efficiently and in various ways. This paper proposes virtual dynamic balaning method to overcome the unbalance of on-line rotor systems. First step is to model actual rotor system with Finite Element Method, and use software to analyse rotor dynamics. In order to determine the phase of balance weight, quantitative amount of unbalance is added on balance plane to solve the lagangle of vibration phase at bearings relative to the unbalance on balance plane mentioned above. As for the accurate amount of balance weight, proportion of vibration amplitude measured and that of unbalance in the software is calculated. The effectiveness of the virtual dynamic balancing method is validated through the experiment on a relatively simple rotor system. Finally, a complicated rotor system with initial unbalance is well balanced using the virtual dynamic balancing method.Experimenal research and on-site balance practice indicate that the virtual dynamic balancing method can resultfully solve rotor unbalance under no.trial mass, and successfully save costs and money during on-site unbalance of rotating machines.
