In this paper, a networked and centralized real-time monitoring system for Valve-Regulated Lead-Acid (VRLA) battery groups based on electric power telecommunication network is introduced. The system makes full use of all possible communication resources in transformer substations to transfer data and commands, it is able to perform many critical functions on VRLA battery groups such as real-time monitoring, intellectual diagnosis, capacity estimation, automatic SMS alerts on faults, remote maintenance operations and so on, thus helped a lot in promoting work efficiency of maintenance personnel and diminishing blind points in monitoring system. The hardware composition, operation mode and software design of the monitoring equipment are presented, the constitution hierarchy, installation and working mode are fully explained. The software implementation for the main monitoring data server is illustrated in detail as well. The system has been installed in several power supply companies within the country and it has greatly enhanced the integrated automation level of transformer substations. |
