The vortex pump's structure is simple and compact, and it is widely used in family as well as many departments of National Economy. At present, the main problem of vortex pump is inefficient. But the inner flow of vortex pump is complicated; it's a three-dimensional incompressible turbulent flow with vortex motion, and ordinary test method is difficult to analyze and research on its inner flow, so it's an efficient mean to study the inner flow of vortex pump by numerical simulation method. To different structure parameters of vortex pump, the paper use numerical simulation method analyze its effect to vortex pump's performance, so that a proof can be supplied to improve and optimize vortex pump and increase the pump's working efficiency.In the past either the numerical simulation or experimental studies, structural parameters for vortex pump are changed to study its effect towards the pump's performance with fixing other parameters only changing one. This paper attempts to introduce the orthogonal experimental design meanwhile changes 5 structural parameters of the vortex pump, finally gets 16 kinds vortex pump models with different parameters. Then it designs the three-dimensional model to each vortex pump's flow field by using PRO/E, divides nonstructural mesh to the pump's inner flow field by using GAMBIT, adopting based on the Reynolds-averaged equations, RNG k-εturbulence model, Body-fitted coordinates and staggered mesh system disperses the N-S equations by using Finite Volume Method. At last it uses FLUENT software to do numerical simulation between different flow rates towards vortex pump. Next the results should be arranged and calculated based on getting better numerical simulation results, and obtains the Flow Rate—Pump Lift, Flow Rate—Efficiency Graphs of 16 kinds different structure parameters vortex pumps. The graphs should be divided to 4 groups, and then the pump model with best efficiency, pump lift should be selected from every group. Finally these 4 groups'data will be used to contrast to the prototype pump, analyze and discuss the pump's structure. I hope the following conclusions will be a supporting instructional action to the hydraulic design of vortex pump.In this paper, the main achievements by studying different structure parameters of 25W-25 vortex pump are as follows:1. By comparing the Flow Rate—Pump Lift, Flow Rate—Efficiency Graphs of the various model pumps,#10 model,#13 model are the final optimized models. Which model will be used must decide as circumstances require.2. The performance diagram of vortex pump has been verified. The 5 structural parameters'effect to the vortex pump's external characteristic has gotten by analyzing and comparing. And during the range of the changing parameters, the impeller speed, the vane number and the vane height are the structural parameters with stronger effect.3. By analyzing the better models'internal characteristic, the Momentum Interchange Principle of vortex pump and the portrait eddy's effect to the vortex pump's external characteristic have been verified.4. The orthogonal experimental design has a great utility value to the vortex pump's structural parameters optimization...
