Research Of Applying PMU To The Regional Power Grid Protection And Stability Monitoring In Voltage

A series of factors such as the construction of worldwide large-scale power interconnection network and the gradually introducing of power market mechanism have challenged relay protection a lot. How to make full use of existing technology to promote the safety of power grid and then prevent the happening of long-time and large-area malignant event due to incorrect action of protection is the problem many relay protection worker now concerned.The emergence of PMU takes relay protection into a bright new field。Unlike the customary element protection which uses the local measurement information as the action criteria of protection, Benefit to the mature of computer and communication technology PMU can sharing all the electrical quantities and information in a wide area, then take relevant regional protection and control measures according to the accuracy fault or abnormal operation of power system. This dissertation introduces some related conception and actual application of applying PMU to regional grid. PMU provided a good technology platform for the fulfilling of wide area protection. Rapid development of technology in measurement and computer as well as communication favors the construction of much more perfect protection and control system. As the carrying out of power market and the gradually formed interconnection of power system in our country, new variations of system operation mode will occur and the safety and stability of power system will became more complicated. In order to ensure the economically and safety operation of power system and prevent the happening of large scale catastrophic accident, a lot of safety and stability control system are distribute. So application research of PMU in stability control means a lot.This paper deals with the research of application of PMU in voltage stability control in regional grid, and proposes a voltage stability online monitoring algorithm in applying PMU in the regional grid. After introduction of some usually used online voltage stability monitoring indexes, the dissertation takes a simulation for those indexes and compares with the simulation results, then get more excellent voltage stability indexes. Analytic of simulation example reflects that, when applying PMU technology in voltage stability online monitoring its voltage stability index can comprehensively fully describe the capacity of maintenance the branch which transmitting a certain power power-flow in a balance and the distance to critical operation condition, this satisfied the demand of voltage stability online monitoring.
