γ-ray spectrometry is an important nuclear geophysical methods to solve earth science, environmental science and other related issues. According to the measuredγ-ray spectrum, the total quantity ofγradiation and the content of uranium, thorium, potassium, etc. can be obtained, as well as information about other relevant elements and lithology. Based on these information, we can not only carry out uranium exploration, but also apply them to geological mapping, oil and gas prospecting, metal and non-metallic minerals search. In addition,γray spectrometry is playing an important role in the field of monitoring radioactive pollution, as well as building materials and environmental radioactivity monitoring.At present, many domestic spectroscopy instruments have been developed successively, such as a portable spectrum logging, hand-held multi-channel NaI spectrometer and 256 computer energy spectrometer, etc. Referring to electromagnetic interference and strong radiation at the work site, this paper proposes a solution, in which Bluetooth technology combined with the portableγspectrometry. For Bluetooth uses frequency hopping spread spectrum(FHSS) to improve data transmission security and anti-jamming capability, it can eliminate the adverse effects of site disturbance factors. In addition, the programme adopts the Carbide C++ 2.0 virtual platform to realize spectrum data reception and processing, which can facilitate data collection and save environmental cost. Thus this programme is feasible in the field of environmental monitoring with strong radiation.This paper introduces a Symbian-based multi-channelγspectrometer system software. Symbian system is a operating system customized for mobile devices, in the global smart phone operating system market share, accounting for 72% of the global market and coming out top. Smart phone is small, powerful, easy to carry ,built-in Symbian operating system and equipped with Bluetooth communication, so we can use it as the host and develope the software of multi-channelγspectrometer on Symbian system. In the nuclear spectrum measurement, the nuclear signal will be transformed intoγspectrum (the spectral data) via data acquisition and processing. Then, the spectral data will be returned to smart phone through the Bluetooth module under control of the ARM. The application software ofγspectrometry developed in the smart phone, will control the probe, complete the corresponding spectral data processing and nuclide identification.Actually, the system adopts model Nokia 5320xm smart phone as hardware development platform, the Carbide C++ v2 as software development platform. The operating system of the phone is Symbian, the operating system platform based on theγspectrometry applications. This kind of smart phone offers Bluetooth Virtual Serial Port service (the virtual serial port is COM5). Once establish connection with other Bluetooth devices, the phone will start Bluetooth communication by the serial manner. The Bluetooth of this phone as the primary device, initiate connections, while the Bluetooth module of the probe end as a slave device, always to be searching, to be connected. For serial communication of Symbian does not support asynchronous input and output, asynchronous read and write operations can be achieved via using multi-threading.The main work of this topic is the development ofγspectrometer applications on the operating system platform. Software is divided into four main modules: man-machine interface, document management module, common functional modules, Bluetooth Communication Module. Besides limited by the smart phone keypad, the screen is too small to set virtual buttons, so all modules of the software are realized in the menu.1.Man-machine interface is clear and simple; just click on the menu for all operations; all of the features at a glance; the user easy to learn.2. Document Management Module3. Data processing module including line extensions, preliminary data processing (line smooth, automatic peak search, energy calibration, peak area calculation and nuclide identification, etc.).4. Bluetooth Communication ModuleBluetooth embedded module realize wireless communication between digital spectrum probe and the host. As a cable replacement program, Bluetooth embedded module can directly connect with the microcontroller or processor, using plug and play manner to achieve a transparent wireless data transmission between devices. In this thesis, , mobile application software of theγspectrometer is developed on the symbian platform and realize Multiple functions, e.g., data processing, nuclide identification, wireless communications, etc., while smart phones as the core and Carbide.c++.2.0 as the development tool. The paper outlines the composition of the software, details the software writing and debugging process using emulator of smart phones on the PC, and the process of running and debugging when the software is installed on smartphones. Its characteristics are: Using Symbian C++ language to write, and applied to the smart phone with Symbian OS finally. Considered the Objective reasons of smart phone memory, the memory use of this software is very cautious, very small memory was taken. Communicate using Bluetooth. Smart phone offers Bluetooth Virtual Serial Port service. Once establish connection with other Bluetooth devices, the phone will start Bluetooth communication by the serial manner. Operating instructions toγspectrometer sent via Bluetooth, spectrum data ofγspectrometry was transmission to the smart phone wireless.If the communication distance is within 10 m, the data transmission and energy spectrum analysis are safe, reliable. Experimental results show thatγspectrometer based on smart phones and Bluetooth has many advantages, e.g., low power consumption, strong anti-interference, and good portability forγ-ray spectrometry of various substances both outdoor and indoor.
