Modern transportation, with high speed, high density, heavy load properties, puts forward higher requirements on the strength, smoothness. Thus, when paving the subgrade and surface, the design must meet the density, in order to ensure the strength and stability of the road. Compaction technology develops rapidly with road compactionness. The impact vibratory compaction technology emerged in recent years as a new compaction technique, which composited vibration, impact and static compaction methods to achieve the effective integration of impact and vibration functions. Several compaction techniques of this technology are integrated on a single roller so as to get better compaction effects. But the impact vibratory compactor is still in development stage, and the design of some components requires further study. This dissertation first explains the theory of impact vibratory compaction, compares the advantages and disadvantages of several impact vibratory roller, and analyzes the existing main problems. In order to study the vibration characteristics of impact vibratory roller, the three-dimensional solid model of vibrating part is created by software Pro/E (including directed and non-directed vibration); flexible body created with ANSYS is simulating the ground; on the use of dynamic simulation software ADAMS, a series of vibration simulations are carried out. Then the force in the horizontal direction of directed and non-directed modes of vibration, the critical vibration amplitude of jumping vibration are analyzed and compared, and based on the simulation model, the vibration power are calculated and compared. The conclusions of this dissertation is very useful for further research on jumping vibratory compaction, and has reference value for engineering practice. What's more, the conclusions can provide reliable technical support to determine the parameters of vibrating part.
