Residential design must change, innovate, and then meet a variety of consumer groups, and use the most humane of space to create residential buildings that people can gain the good physical and mental experience during the living, truly achieve a "people-oriented", "human-centered ", which requires the designer to in-depth survey and research the residential Unit .The universalization , intelligence and popularization of household appliances, socializationg of household duties, aging of population and the implementation of Weekend systenms make the whole community residents'leisure time remarkerblly increasing. Residents have more time to stay at home, then the demand for leisure and recreational activities at home would increase, therefore living environment would be maked higher request. If the Unit can meet basic living needs of residents, while to better meet leisure ,recreational activities and self-realization their needs . It is very important for the residents who live in the Unit. In this Unit, the residents will not only get the full enjoyment of ease at home, but also will obtain the fun of a better family life, interaction with the neighbors and family leisure activities and enjoy the happiness of a family union.Guangzhou as the pioneer of China's reform and opening up, and is also one of the four biggest cities, has an enormous population. all ages, all types of people would be inclouded. The article divides the change of design on Guangzhou Residential Unit'diversification by time, analyse the multiformity on the layout and size of Residential Unit ,and its underlying factors, the ultimate aim is to reveal principles and rules for the multiformity of design, in order to stimulate new idea and provide some suggestions for Residential Unit design in the future.
