In the past decades, it was always focused on the initial investment in the bridge engineering and rarely considered the long-term maintenance cost after the construction which results in the problems such as the poor durability of the bridge structure, shorter service life and finally great economical burden to the country. The bridge life-cycle cost theory is such innovated concept aimed to conquer the degradation of the existing bridge structures and the rising bridge life-cycle cost.In order to optimize the life-cycle cost of concrete bridge by quantified bridge maintenance strategies and the prediction of structure deterioration pace and the evaluation of structure performance, some works are researched:(1)The model of bridge life-cycle cost and some relevant cost models to calculate the user cost are found by analyzing bridge life-cycle theory. Then some suggestions are recommended for China's bridge life-cycle systems by comparing for used worldwidely bridge life-cycle systems.(2)Highway Asset Management Plan and Preventive Maintenance Strategies are recommended in implementation and experience for China by comparing and analyzing advantages and disadvantages of life-cycle maintenance strateies in Hongkong, UK and USA.(3)By comparing and analyzing three used widely structure deterioration pace prediaction models in order to find a model suitable to China. And based on this model, a structure deterioration pace prediction model under preventive maintenance strategies is found which establish a foundation for quantified preventive maintenance strategies.(4)The life-cycle costs of bridge deck are classified by researching the development of bridge deck life-cycle theory. Three maintenance strategies are assumed to optimize the life-cycle cost of one new built bridge deck in China and preventive maintenance strategies are found more useful and cost effective to optimize the concrete bridge life-cycle cost than regular maintenance strategies.
